It’s a wrap: BCM celebrates LNG 17 success

May 17, 2013

BCM Public Relations was delighted to be a part of the 17th International Conference and Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG 17), the biggest global gas event of the year, which was held in Houston, Texas last month.

As the official PR agency for this world-renowned event, we were responsible for all editorial leading up to the event as well as operating the large media centre and liaising with all the press during the event. A total of 222 print, online and broadcast journalists from publications based across the world, including China, Nigeria and The Netherlands attended the event. Registrations were open to journalists both before and during LNG 17 to ensure that the process was as smooth as possible for journalists from both local and international publications.

During the four-day event we organised press conferences with the expert LNG 17 key speakers such as the Australian Minister for Resources and Energy, the Hon. Gary Gray AO MP and the US Acting Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy, Christopher A Smith as well as senior representatives from Gazprom, Chevron, Petrobras, Repsol, ExxonMobil and Shell. bcm also worked with Upstream to produce content for the Show Dailies and managed the official LNG 17 Social Media platforms, providing important information to attendees and press alike.

One inherent challenge of running the PR for a global event, such as LNG 17, is ensuring that the services are tailored to every journalist’s needs. Fortunately, the bcm team are used to working closely with people from a wide range of cultures, and the bcm team speak many languages including: Spanish, Italian, Portugese, French, Mandarin Cantonese and Malay so it was easy to meet the global needs of the journalists.

When LNG 17 was over the bcm team even managed to enjoy some traditional Deep South culture, with an All-American rodeo,  armadillo racing and our fair share of doseydoe-ing at the LNG 17 farewell party.

Jay Copan, the Executive Director of LNG 17, offered some very kind words to the bcm team, he said: “Your team did a fabulous job! We couldn’t have done it without you.”
